At our weekly meeting last Thursday we were delighted to welcome Steve Putnam, our Romney Marsh Community Police Officer, who came to talk to us about his role in policing the local community.

In an extensive Q & A session Steve explained how his role is split between the day to day reacitonary role responding to situations requiring his attention, and the more preventative role in providing support and guidance to the various sections of the lcocal community in both the towns and villages and the surrounding countryside. The key aim being to help keep crime in the community to a minimum. He also gave a plug for the Kent Police “My Community Voice” website https://www.mycommunityvoicekent.co.uk/ and recommended that everyone signs up for relevant alerts relating to matters of interest and relevance. We’re very grateful to Steve for sparing some of his valuable time in a very busy work schedule and will look out for him on his regular visits around the Marsh from his base in Lydd.
